The holiday season is fast approaching and in just a few short weeks we’ll be fighting crowds, traffic and potential snow just to get a gallon of milk. The usual shopping trip to Wal-Mart will now require a full suit of armor, shield and a broad sword, so that we can battle our way through the toy department aisles without injury. Think I’m kidding? I saw a woman get punched in the nose because she happened to pick up the last “Holiday Barbie” and someone else wanted it. I watched a man ram a woman with his shopping cart 3 times because she was blocking the “Tickle Me Elmo’s”.  People park wherever they want and often block cars from being able to leave the parking lot, and some blocked in shoppers have been known to ram the offending vehicle right out of the way! I’m tellin’ ya holiday shoppers are nut jobs!

So here’s a thought… Shop Online! Start now! Avoid the traffic, snow, crowds and a potential trip to the hospital.

There are so many merchant’s online from Toy’s ‘R Us to Bed, Bath & Beyond, but why go with the “same old same old”? Why not kill THREE birds (so to speak) with one stone? Support a Stay At Home Mom or Talented Artisan instead while avoiding the holiday crazies AND getting a little something different for your loved ones.

So what can you get online?

I offer flameless soy candles, fashion jewelry, jerky, essential oils, hair accessories, weight-loss supplements, pet food & treats and handmade chainmaille jewelry. But you can also find many more BEAUTIFUL hand crafted items, like these awesome country crafts, cozy hats, and even these adorable sock monkey”s! (I bought one of those monkey’s for Cody, btw… TOO CUTE!)

By purchasing from a Mom, and/or Artisan, you not only get a gift that you might not necessarily find in stores, you also help them to support their families and to keep doing what they love to do. Not every moment has to be “Hallmark” made, so look around, get surfing, talk to your friends, find someone to give a gift to by buying a gift from them.

(I wrote this blog post because I am a “stay at home mom” AND an artist and I believe in supporting others like me. If you don’t see your shop listed here, feel free to add it to the comments section. GIFT items only, please. I might even add an Artisan directory)
