Howdy!! Welcome to my little stop on the Summer Blog Tour of 2014! I was so thrilled when my good friend Lena, of Uncreative Mommy, invited me to join her on this little bloggy adventure. Lena is kind of like my “blog mentor” and a “BFF” all rolled into one. If it weren’t for Lena, I would have given up on my blog a long time ago and just stuck with babbling away on Facebook. She is a wonderful mom to two kiddos and an awesome blogger full of great ideas. Her posts are super fun to read. She inspires me to keep my blog alive and kicking and is always there to give me a nudge in the right direction when I find myself stuck. Okay enough mush, on to the tour!! 😉
- What am I working on?
Good question! What am I NOT working on (hence the Fairy BUSY Mommy title) is more like it at the moment. Gosh. There’s so much, where do I start? I suppose the most “on topic” answer would be that I am working on this blog. It’s been a work in progress for way too long, and while I know a blog is never truly finished, “progress” is definitely something I have been needing to work on more. I’m a “work at home mom” with a 5 year old boy, whom I have just started to home school, so “progress” is restricted to what he allows me to do each day. I work with several direct sales companies and I love what I do, but I am still trying to find my bloggy niche… my place in the blogosphere. (Is that a word? Dunno. Don’t care. I’m sure I heard it somewhere before… either way… it fits. I’m stickin’ with it.)
- How does my work differ from others of its genre?
I don’t even know for sure what “genre” my “work” is, so this is a tough one. I’m sure many people think I’m nuts, that I have too much on my plate… maybe that’s where I differ from others. I’m a little bit of this and a little bit of that. A lot of people like to focus on one thing or just a couple of things… but I just can’t. It’s boring. I have to have a lot going on at all times. I guess my head is out of whack, who knows? Maybe I should rename my blog “Fairy Dizzy Mommy”.
- Why do I write/create what I do?
My family. My sanity. I write to remember things. I write to share with others. I write because my head is so full of EVERYTHING I have to put it somewhere, so why not here? I write because I’m in the middle of nowhere and I don’t have local “girlfriends” to chat with or to go out for coffee with. I write because sometimes it’s just easier than saying something. I write because it gives me somewhere to express myself my way and maybe because my writing allows people to get to know the REAL me better. I write because I work online and need to get myself out there for the sake of my businesses. I used to write poetry because I was “a teen filled with angst”. I’m good without the “angst” but I wish the poetry would come back. I write because I’ve been told that I’m good at it and that I’m funny. (Okay, I guess, maybe… am I?) Sometimes, I just feel like babbling, hence my Fairy Logs & Codyisms. Oh, and I write because my online friends kept telling me that I should blog and it turns out that I enjoy doing it! So here I am… BLOGGING!I don’t know if I’m cut out to “educate” people with my blog, but at the very least I hope to amuse them with my ramblings. If I can make just one person laugh or smile after reading one of my posts, well, then… I guess I’m doing something right.
- How does your writing/creating process work?
A “process” would imply some kind of system or organization method. Yeah, um. No. Half the time I’m lying in bed at night getting flooded with ideas and just trying to hold on to them until morning because I’m too tired to get up and write it all down then. Other times, it’s as simple as writing down something wacky that my kid did. Sometimes it’s little bits and pieces of ideas that pop into my head throughout the day that I toss into a notepad for later so that I don’t lose them. More often than not, though, I decide out of the blue that I need to write something and I spend all day agonizing over it, through interruption after interruption (Mom, here… remember?) until it’s done because I am DETERMINED to get SOMETHING written down and published. I guess my process is whatever works whenever it works as long as it works!
That’s enough about me… it’s time to introduce you to a few of my friends and fellow bloggers. Let’s get this tour back on the road!
DeAnna Troupe is a small business coach and a freelance writer. She helps small business owners with their social media strategy. She likes to spend her free time with her family. She enjoys watching basketball and American football, crocheting, reading, writing, singing, and playing cards.
Her blog, Learn Small Business, is a site for someone that wants to learn to run a business from home. DeAnna’s blog is ideal for someone that is working a full or part time job and is looking for some supplemental income.
Michelle Hurst Subbert is a military wife and homeschooling mother of five. She is also a chef, nurse, accountant, and chauffeur. (We moms are busy people, you know!) She and her husband purchased a small farm and are currently enjoying homesteading. She loves to read, quilt, scrapbook, and do genealogy research.
Michelle’s blog, Eagle Eye Academy, is a collection of her adventures with her busy homeschooling family.
Frogjunkiee Shannon is a work at home mom and graphic designer. We have been friends on Facebook for several years and her positive attitude is downright contagious. She loves her family, her friends and her work with a passion. It’s hard not to want to climb through the monitor and hug her.
On Shannon’s blog, Frogjunkiee, you’ll find giveaways and some of her beautiful graphics. Shannon has done many super cute designs for me and I highly recommend her. Be sure to check out her Artfire shop, Frogjunkiee’s Creative Creations, to see more of her design work.
